7 Sites To Check Out While Shopping This Holiday Season
With the holiday season fast approaching I thought I would share with you my 7 favorite and unique shopping sites that can save and earn you money.
1. Fatwallet – This site offers cash back on purchases from a wide selection of merchants including Buy.com, Target, Staples, Dell, Overstock.com, Walmart and Circuit City. Cash back amounts range from 1% to 20%. In order to receive cash back you need to click through to the merchant through the FatWallet site.
Fatwallet offers more than cash back to hundreds of merchants. They also list coupons and specials for merchants on each merchant page as well as give store ratings. My favorite part of Fatwallet is their forum where you can find postings for hot deals, freebies and coupons.
Cash back bonuses are generally paid out 91 to 120 days depending on the merchant’s return policy and their payment to FatWallet. You need to have at least $10 in cash back to receive payment and they will send either a check or payment through Paypal.
2. Jellyfish also offers cash back from hundreds of merchants. Sometimes their cash back percentage is better than Fatwallet which has me using both sites to get the best cash back bonus possible. Jellyfish has a nice, comprehensive search feature that helps you find the best price from the best merchant for a product. You are able to refine and narrow your search to find just what you are looking for.
Check out Jellyfish at 1pm Monday through Friday for their Smack of the Day. This is like a reverse auction where a product is put up with its retail price and cash back savings grow every second until the product sells out. You don’t know how many of the items are available or who has bought the product at what price. If you choose to buy the product, say at 35% cash back, you pay full price and the cash back is added to your Jellyfish account.
With Jellyfish your cash back payments usually are made between 30 and 60 days from the transaction to account for merchants return policies. You account needs to have a minimum of $10 cash back to receive payment. Their payout is quicker than Fatwallet and they also will do either a check or Paypal for payment.
3. Dealnews – This site reports the best deals on computers, gadgets, technology and other items of interest. Each day there can be up to 200 new deals, bargains and coupons from reputable merchants. Dealnews finds the lowest price on a particular item and shares it with their readers. I subscribe to their daily newsletter to get the best daily deals and I have saved money on a few items over the past 6 months.
If you are not into tech gadgets and computers, check out her.dealnews for deals on clothing, home and garden, coupons and more. There is also dealram which helps you find the best deals on computer memory, dealcam where you can find great deals on digital cameras and camcorders, dealink where you can find deals on ink for your printer, and dealcoupon which has the latest coupons from online merchants.
4. Ugenie – Comparison shop for books, music, dvds and video games. Ugenie is unique because it will bundle items to give you the best deal possible. You select the items you want to bundle and Ugenie will find the merchant with the lowest possible price, either new or used. Ugenie also shows and applies any coupons so you don’t have to go searching for coupons on another site. Their price also includes taxes and shipping.
Ugenie is also different because it searches both new and used items on sites like Amazon and Half.com and new items on Buy.com, Barnes & Noble and Buy.com. If you are looking for books, music, movies or video games then I suggest checking out Ugenie, especially if you are looking for multiple items.
5. Shop It To Me – Your free personal shopper for sales on clothing and accessories. This is a great site if you are looking for clothing and accessories for women, men and children. You select the brands and sizes of the clothing and accessories you are looking for and you will receive an email either daily, semi-weekly or weekly with items that are on sale in your size and brand. (Sample email below.)
With Shop It To Me you will no longer have to go through sites looking for sales on the clothing brands you love in your size. I hate seeing a sale on clothing only to find there is nothing in my size. Shop It To Me takes away that frustration and does the work for me, finding clothing in my size and the brands I love.
6. myTriggers – A comparison shopping site where you can compare prices and products online in real time. myTriggers bills itself as a persistent shopping search engine. All you need to do is enter the product you are looking for once and myTriggers will search over 100 million items from more than a million sellers, and provide you with a list of items that match your search criteria, including pictures, all on one results page. Browse results, then select the item description or image you want, and one click later, you’ll be ready to make your purchase.
What makes myTriggers unique is that it will continue to search out prices for new items that match your search criteria and alert you either by email or RSS feed in real time. I like this feature because it saves me time from looking for deals on a particular item I have my eye on. I set the maximum price I am willing to pay for an item and myTriggers emails me when it finds it. I also like that it includes eBay auctions in the results, though if you don’t want auctions you can turn that feature off.
7. Frucall – An online comparison shopping website for mobile shoppers. Have you been out shopping at a store and wondered if you could get an item for less online? Frucall is a way of checking online prices while out shopping in a store. All you need to do is call Frucall with the item barcode and listen to the prices from online retailers, either new or used, then save the item to view later on Frucall’s website or buy the item over the phone.
I’ve used Frucall when I’ve been in Circuit City and found it to be helpful in evaluating whether I wanted to buy the item at the store or online. The computerized voice is sometimes hard to understand but you are given a choice to listen to the information again and I have found the second time I better understand the information. I have Frucall’s number 1-888-363-7822 programmed into my mobile phone so all I have to do is have the product’s barcode and I can get my price comparisons.
