Creating Slideshows with Image Loop and Slide
I am having fun today. First I became Supergirl using the Superhero Quiz and then I created a couple of slideshows of my cat Jack using Image Loop and Slide. Jack gets to have more photos of himself on the web and I got to see how these two applications work.
A little background about Jack. He is a stray that I trapped (and I mean trapped) in September 2003. At the time he was a scrawny, short-furred cat, only 9 lbs. He was malnourished due to tapeworm from munching on field mice. Today, he is a 15 lb., long-furred beast and happy as can be.
Now about his slideshows and the applications I used to make them.
Image Loop: I like the ease of batch uploading my photos to create the slide show. I only wish that I could see thumbnails of the photos while selecting them because I am not good at naming my photos and there were certain ones I was looking for. You can also get photos from MySpace, Flickr or a webpage url. It is easy to select the slideshow effect, I chose photo show which spotlights each photo nicely as you can see below. It’s easy to add a slideshow to your website, blog and even eBay.
Image Loop is simple and straight forward. There are a nice amount of options to create a slideshow including a number of effects, themes and colors. There is a desktop application to make it easy to upload photos from your computer and to watch slideshows but it is currently only available in German making it a bit difficult to understand the prompts.
Slide: Creating this slideshow of Jack was easy with Slide. Uploading photos was a breeze and I could see thumbnails of the photos before uploading them. Again, you can add photos from your computer or Flickr, MySpace, Bebo, Photobucket or an image url. There weren’t as many styles/effects as with Image Loop (I really like the photo show from Image Loop) but it offered the same formatting of captions and colors.
Slide also has a desktop application that lets you create new slideshows, upload photos, play slideshows and use slideshows as a screen saver.
I wish Slide had the styles/effects that Image Loop has because it then would be perfect for creating slideshows. If Image Loop comes up with a desktop application in English it then would be the perfect way to create slideshows. How about a mashup Slide Loop!
