DVD Flick: Burning Video Files for DVD Players

Thanks to the Adam Pash over at Lifehacker I am now able to burn my .avi files to a DVD disk playable on my DVD player using DVD Flick.  This free program supports AVI, MPG, MOV, WMV, ASF, FLV, Matroska and MP4 file formats along with PEG-1\2\4 (XVid, DivX, etc.), Windows Media Audio\Video. MP3, OGG Vorbis, H264, and On2 VP5\6 codecs.  For a full list of file formats and codecs click here.

DVD Flick is very easy to use and Adam has given step-by-step instructions on how to create and burn a DVD in Hack Attack: Burn almost any video file to a playable DVD.

I was able to convert the two part pilot of Battlestar Galactica from a .avi format to a format that plays on my regular DVD player.  Sweet!!!  It took a bit of time to convert the files but I just left the process running for a couple of hours.  For me, it was worth it.  I don’t like to sit at my computer to watch a movie, let alone eat up the disk space a 2 hour movie requires.

And, for all of you who aren’t in the U.S., you can set the format to either NTSC or PAL.

I can’t say how simple it was to create my Battlestar Galactica dvds using DVD Flick.  Thanks Adam for sharing this free program.
