Indepth Health, Auto and Travel Searches With Kosmix

I’m always interested in ways to find health information and different search engines do try to bring relevant results together, namely Google. But nothing comes as close as Kosmix does through their Right Heath search. Kosmix also contains topic pages for automobiles and travel through their Right Autos and Right Trips sites containing extensive information.

On Kosmix I typed in a condition, fibromyalgia and a whole page full a information appeared. Each topic page whether it be for a condition, a drug or symptom contains

a top box that contains an overall guide with relevant information.
web results.
questions and answers.
videos.
trusted sources (government and associations).
advanced reading.
latest news.
featured articles.
a right sidebar that lets you explore the condition and refine your search.

Right Health also has a community feature but it is not broken down into specific diseases and drugs, just lumped together at this point. Perhaps if they get more people to join the community they can break down the general topics.

Right Autos and Right Trips work along the same lines, providing a plethora of information, guides, reviews and videos. A search on Toyota Camry brought up a car guide, reviews and even a tab on car enthusiasts.

Kosmix crawls the web to “to create algo-generated home pages.” This is different from another popular topic specific search engine Mahalo whose topic pages are people created and cover a much broader range of topics. I found more information about fibromyalgia on Kosmix than I did on Mahalo. That’s where people-generated content can fall short or excel depending on the page editor whereas with Kosmix it uses a categorization engine to constantly crawl the web for new information.

This is a very helful site to get aggregated information. They also have other verticals such as travel and autos.

Hi Elly,
Yes, I liked the auto section since I am up for a new lease on my Honda Accord. I’m debating between another Honda or the Toyota Camry. Kosmix may very well help with my decision.

Travel tips
If you need information about twenty different topics in order to find what you want about a City. Then you have a simple tool in your hand here.
The lazy man use it because he only need to write one single keyword,and the busy women have no time to search for twenty keywords.

I think people need a more personal approach when it comes to doctors. I know i have a doctor which takes care of my boobs(marire sani) and he is so nice. He always knows me by name, he's friendly and i gladly attent every meeting.

Google can find bad results very often, but Google also has billions of pages indexed:)) I somehow don't understand what Google has to offer anymore. You could spend entire days to actually find what you need because Google is somehow very stupid when it comes to relevant search. But who knows, maybe soon they will implement an algorithm that works just fine.

What lacks in SeeqPod is a community where people share their playlists and music discoveries with each other. If I hadn’t searched around a bit I wouldn’t have found that on the mobile version you can browse other people’s playlists. It’s not necessary to have a large social networking component but I would love to see what kinds of music other people using the site are finding.

The SMS Forwarding feature allows me to transfer the conversation to my mobile phone if I am going to be away from my computer. When I come back I just turn the feature off. Of course I do incur a cost from my mobile provider when I use the forwarding feature.

Kosmix could be a very powerful tool if it works as it should. Google is very unrelevant when it displays search results and that because of SEO.
