Invites to British Torrent Site TheBox

I love British television and have been disappointed with the offerings of BBC America and PBS.  I wanted more shows and current offerings, not shows that aired in the UK 2 or 3 years earlier.  When I came by the British torrent site TheBox I was ecstatic to find the shows I was longing for like current episodes of Torchwood, Wire in the Blood, The Inspector Lynley Mysteries and Spooks (known in the US as MI-5).

Now, if you don’t know what a torrent is I recommend that you read Brian’s BitTorrent FAQ and Guide.  Basically a torrent is an easy and fast way to share files between people.  Rather than downloading a file from one site or person which can take time a torrent is downloaded from a number of people and as you download the file you upload a portion that is shared with others who are downloading the file.  It sounds complicated but it isn’t.  As you download a file you upload a portion to be shared with others.  It is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol.

If you are uncomfortable with the thought of sharing portions of files you have downloaded then bittorrent is not for you.  But if you are willing to give as much as you take then jump in, there are plenty of bittorrent sites that have music, television shows and movies.  For general torrents I use a site called BTJunkie which pulls torrents from a variety of sources.

For British shows I use TheBox and appreciate the effort those in the UK do to put together television shows sans commercials.  There is a wealth of content on the site including soap operas, documentaries, older television shows and radio shows.  It is recommended you use uTorrent or Vuze (formally Azureus) as your bittorrent client though others will work.  I use uTorrent which runs in the background using minimal system resources.  I generally download/upload at night when no one is on their computers.

If you are interested in checking out TheBox I have 9 invites to give out.  How long I will have those invites will depend upon how many new users sign up for the site,  The site only accepts 80,000 users so invites can come and go.  Let me know as soon as possible if you want an invite by leaving me a comment on this post.
