Never Miss A Concert With BeeThere

I have developed a new appreciation of music over the past year and now am up-to-date with many of the new bands and artists on the club and concert scene these days.  I still love Led Zepplin, Queen, Pink Floyd and such but now also like Coldplay, Snow Patrol, The Fray and Howie Day, just to name a few.  Will I go see my new favorite artists and bands and be a middle-aged groupie?  I’m not sure but now I can at least see if they are coming to town, the venue and the date with BeeThere, an application that has 800 U.S. and Ontario, Canada cities and over 5000 venues to search for your favorite artists.  Pick your city and load your favorite artists and bands to watch and let BeeThere do the rest.

With BeeThere you are able to

create an artist watch list by either entering in the names of your favorite artists or loading them from iTunes.

get custom recommendations based on artists you have entered.

  get discounted tickets.

subscribe to an RSS feed to see your list of upcoming events.

add buttons to your website or blog showing upcoming shows.

see all upcoming events by city with nice search refinements to by genre, dates and venue.

I don’t use iTunes so I had to manually add artists to my watch list though it didn’t take long to enter my favorites.  As I typed in the an artist in the search box, matches come up for me to select and add to my watch list.  It would have been nice if the application would have searched my music directory and added artists that way but BeeThere requires iTunes and I use Winamp.

Now I know that Snow Patrol is playing at the Agganis Arena at Boston University on March 28th and Lily Allen is at the Roxy on April 7th.  There is a link to buy tickets through AmpedTickets, info about the venue and links to artist website (if they have one) and on last.fm as well as sample music on iTunes (click on either artist to see the info listed).   I liked the additional information, especially for my recommendations on artists I’ve never heard of.  Maybe I’ll find even more music to listen to.

One feature that would be a nice addition to BeeThere would be a link up for people who are going to the same event since there is a url address for a specific concert like Lily Allen on April 7th at the Roxy.  Maybe they could add a forum or some kind of message system to make a social network of like-minded people in a local area.

I really like BeeThere and how easy it was to set up my location and favorite artists.  I put the RSS feed on my Netvibes page and now am up-to-date on local concerts for my favorite artists.  Sweet!
