Why I’ll Keep Using Google Analytics

Yesterday I received an email from Google Analytics that my account had been upgraded to the new version of the reporting interface. So, I went over and logged into my Analytics account and selected the reports for this blog and was pleasantly surprised by the new graphical interface which presents my web stats more clearly than before and makes finding the information I want to know more accessible.

My biggest complaint with Google Analytics in the past was the difficulty finding the information I wanted easily. Well, the new customizable dashboard puts the information I want to know right at my fingertips. Navigation of the various reports is now a breeze.

I can access a great deal of information now from the dashboard whereas in the past I had to go from report to report digging for the web stats I was interested in. The report sections have been renamed making it easier to navigate around all the information available to me.

Google Analytics still doesn’t report web stats in real time like Reinvigorate and Clicky do so I’ll still reference those tools to look at who is reading my blog right now and current trends. The new design of Google Analytics however has made me reconsider how useful a tool it is in showing me data about my visitors and trends over time that I should be aware of. What I learned from Google Analytics about my blog today is that

This information comes directly from the Dashboard. I can then go and dig for more information if I am inclined to such as referring sites, keywords (useful for Adword campaigns), entrance and exit pages, and so on.

The reason I’ll keep using Google Analytics is because it now presents my site statistics in a user-friendly manner which can help me make better decisions on what type of content to continue to offer on my blog based on visitor trends and traffic sources.
